Deleting Content

Deleting content in FarCry is relatively straightforward. If you have permission to delete content you will be presented with the option to do so in the various editing interfaces throughout the application.

Depending on how your solution is configured, deleting content may take various forms:
• Permanent archive; content is flagged as deleted and is moved into the permanent archive (dmArchive table in the database).
• Removed from system; content is physically removed from the system.

Permanent Archive

This is for records keeping only. There is no easy way to undelete content items. But they are stored permanently such that an administrator could retireve this content from the system if absolutely necessary.

Removed from system

Just as it suggests - your content is removed from the database never to return.

Note you could always go to a database backup or equivalent to retrieve deleted content.

Send To Trash

In some areas you may be presented with the option to send content to trash. The trash is a holding area for deleted content that can be more easily retrieved by an administrator. Typically this option is only available for content based in the site overview tree.

Q. Will trash items appear in search?

No. Trashed content is automatically sent to DRAFT and so it won't be picked up by the standard integrated Verity search solution in FarCry. However, it's worth noting that content may still appear in the search results if you do not update your Verity collection after you have trashed the content.
