Has there been any thought to timezones for FarCry apps and/or users?
Situations arise if the server/JVM time is different to the intended application time. This directly affects news, events, and schedule tasks.
Example: A FarCry site administered by someone in Sydney sits on a shared-server located in Perth. The server time is three hours behind Sydney time.
A content contributor schedules an dmEvent to go live at 9am. It doesn't actually go live till 12pm Sydney time. Confuses poor hapless content contributor.
Also, while less of an issue for small timezone gaps, it certainly an issue with 10 hour differences; a FarCry app may show the wrong calendar day to it's audience.
_serverspecificvars could have a timezone offset application variable.
Unfortunately, a lot of time references throughout Core would need to be modified, in addition to the simpler task of updating app templates.
No thoughts at this stage.. this would be a major undertaking that would have to fall into a primary point release and certainly outside of the scope of the maintenance branch.
